Yet another Top Class movie by ManiRathinam…. This time it’s a historical Drama. A novel that was originally written by KALKI Krishnamoorthy … A story about the CHOLA Dynasty … An unimaginable production at its master class … To add icing to the cake is AR REHMAN background music… A long waited TOP CLASS movie an EPIC production  PS-1.

It’s very tough to review a master piece like this. I waited and debated if I need to write a review for this master piece. Then I though let me give a best shot to review this master class. I did not read the novel so I might have a lack of understanding the 50 odd characters that gets introduced before the interval … 

STORY:

The set up of the story is during the CHOLA kingdom who ruled Southern India during the 12th century. The story revolves around Vikram, Trisha, Karthi who belong to CHOLA dynasty… Aishwarya Rai gets introduced as a Villain who wants to destroy the Cholas… The first half of the movie is all about setting the story …

The second half of the movie is to bring Ponniyin SELVAN (Jayam Ravi) back from Sri Lanka to Tanjore and in the process how the villains try to avoid him coming etc… it’s all about how in the olden days one kingdom try’s to maintain its power and dynasty and the other one try’s to capture them. It’s all about power, vengeance and revenge and the story ends with a suspense and will be continued in PART 2 …

AISHWARYA RAI, VIKRAM, TRISHA, KARTHI, JAYAM RAVI, JAYRAM: 

The star cast is so big that you cannot even type. EVERYONE did a wonderful job in this movie. Every character was up to the mark and everyone did a wonderful job in this movie. Let it be VIKRAM (Aditya Karikalan), TRISHA ( Kundavai). AISHWARYA (Nandini) everyone played their part very well…. KARTHI dominated the whole movie as a Spy to the Chola Kingdom … JAYARAM rocks as usual … there is not one actor who you can tell was lagging … everyone played their own art very well and if was awesome to watch all of them play a fantastic job … 

MANIRATHNAM:

Hats off to Mani Rathnam who is the director of this movie. The attention to detail for such an intense story and the way he handled almost 15 stars in such a strong story line is just unbelievable. Only a classy STAR directory like him can even imagine of doing a movie like this and be successful. There is not a single movie that I can compare as there is no movie like this that has been made before. MANIRATHNAM Rocks and he can make anything happen. 

AR REHMAN:

While the direction of this movie was top class so was the background music. In an epic movie like this background music plays an important role… the music has to be different as this movie is based out of 12th century…. The BGM when each and every character changes is just amazing. 

LOLLU COMMENTS: 

This is an Intense Three Hour long movie… It’s based out of a very famous Novel. If you have not read the novel it’s very difficult to understand the story as the number of characters who gets introduced will be overwhelming for an average audience.

However if you understand the characters you will LOvE the way the movie has been made. The top class direction of MANIRATHNAM, acting by almost everyone and the BGM is a treat and something that you don’t get in an average movie…. 

This movie has to be enjoyed in big screens with proper Audio effect… the big screen will give the effect this movie deserves…. Hats off to Mani Rathnam for directing this masterpiece and this movie deserves all the awards and it’s a treat for all of you… A movie that has to be celebrated by all of us.
