Today’s travel tip of the Day takes you to century old Roman experience in a city where everything started. It’s none other than the Italian capital city of Rome...
Rome is magnificent, Majestic and everything about it is jaw dropping. The city is a mix of 2000 year old buildings, structure, ruins, history, cafes, wine and so on .... It’s one of Europe’s major attractions...
If you love History, Museums, Churches, art and architecture ROME will delight you. It has the best architecture that has been preserved for centuries. You would wonder how come. The answer is the Roman architecture.
The colosseum which was built in 69 AD almost 2000 years ago is still an attraction that one can experience. It’s a massive giant stadium build by the romans where the kings and queens used to conduct games, shows and fights against wild animals. The stadium is almost a size of a football stadium. Over the years due to wars the structure has been damaged. However, it’s still an attraction one can visit even today to learn about the history and power that the Roman kingdom had 2000 years before. If you have watched the Hollywood movie THE GLADIATOR, it’s a good representation of The Colosseum and the related events happened 2000 years before in ROME. The TREVI fountain which was built in 1600’s is one of the architectural wonders. It’s massive and it’s a nice place to people watch and sit before one of the world’s best preserved master piece.
VATICAN CITY the world smallest county is almost another extension of Rome. Vatican City offers two big attractions. The Vatican Church ST PETERS BASILICA where THE POPE live and the The Vatican Museum. For those who want to see massive art of Michael Angelo it’s all in the Vatican Museum.
The Sistine Chapel is one of the most famous painted interior spaces in the world by MICHAEL ANGELO and virtually all this fame comes from the breathtaking painting of its ceiling from about 1508-1512. It seems Michael Angelo painted the ceiling literally hanging and lying down for years to complete the paintings.
THE FORUM in Rome offers a 2000 year back experience right in the middle of the city.
Walking through the forum is like stepping back two millennia into the heart of ancient Rome. Although what has survived after years of war is only a fraction of its original splendor it’s one of a major attraction that summarizes the century old history of Romans.
SPANISH STEPS in the center of the city is a great place to hang out. It’s one place to sit and chill out and enjoy a beer or wine and people watch.
Rome also offers a great shopping experience, and the food scene is insane if you are a fan of Italian food. Small cafes, wine bars and tapas are available everywhere in the city.
Getting to Rome is like flying to any other major city in Europe. All flights operate to Rome connecting to Other European cities.
ROME is one city that must be in top of your list of places to visit. Centrally located in one of my favorite countries had many things to offer. You can take a train from Rome and go to Venice or Florence or Capri in just 3 hours. ROME is a magical experience that everyone has to experience once in their lifetime.
