Old San Juan is the biggest attraction of PUERTO RICO …. If you have been to SPAIN you will be able to relate most of it in Old SAN JUAN … it’s filled with Cafes, restaurants, Old Ruin Bars from the Spanish-American war, nice central area with shops and performances and to add it to all is the nice colorful building that you see in SPAIN … it reminded me to the trips we made to MADRID, SPAIN for the most part….
JUST GET LOST IN SAN JUAN:
The fun thing to do in old San Juan is to get lost In the downtown. The streets are small and it very much resembles any EUROPEAN downtown. You feel like you are in a European central square … the cafes and bars are always fun to hang out … there is always action there …
The central square of Old San Juan is like spending time in Madrid's central square … cafes and bars are all outdoors and you can hang around there for hours Drinking beer or sipping a Latte or just hanging out there and enjoying watching people …. The best part is getting lost and finding your way out … it’s that much fun ….
ENJOY THE COLORFUL BUILDING:
The only other place where I have seen so many colors in one place is BURANO, ITALY .. San Juan downtown is filled with colors … you can walk in downtown and enjoy the colorful buildings and cafes … you will just love it … every building that is painted In a bright color …
The central square is more like a small European town … the colors of the building will definitely make you wonder if you are in a small European town … Enjoy The European setting in Old San Juan and it’s truly worth it ….
RESTAURANTS, CAFES, RUIN BARS:
The RUIN BARS of Old San Juan is a treat for you… these are structures that were destroyed during the war and they are now top-notch bars where one can enjoy a drink … it’s very similar to The ruin bars in BUDAPEST, Hungary …. If you are into bar hoping this is the place for you …
CASTAWAY ISLAND:
This island is a short ferry drive from where we stayed… a typical beach everyone will enjoy … white sand and crystal clear water like any other destination … one can spend a whole day on this island doing all the water activities that they want to do…
